DONT YOU DARE!

So Again to recap...

Every monday I go shopping for grandma. I buy her fresh fruit, milk, chicken, soup, veggies, bread etc. I try to keep her food options a little exciting so she has variety throughout the week. Let's not forget the chocolate cake & ice cream!

So usually she finishes just about everything I buy so I can just toss out the empty containers. So last week she had 2 half servings of Panera Bread soup left and she said she was going to finish it that day or the next day. So I left them. Today the soup was still in the fridge, along with the unopened chicken fettucini dinner I bought last week. As I was looking through the fridge I let her know I was going to throw out the soups because they were now 2 weeks old. She says to me; Don't You DARE! I looked at her wide eyed and said Oh yes... they are 2 weeks old. I'm throwing them out. She says to me they are not bad they don't smell! But you haven't eaten them in another week why would you eat them this week. It's kind of gross to me...

Then she says to me "You don't know my refrigerator!" & "My sense of smell still works!" I start laughing and ask her Do you have some type of magic fridge I don't know about? She just says to not throw it out.

I threw them out along with the 2 fried chicken legs I bought 2 weeks ago and a bag of baby spinach that was probably 3 weeks old, along with a few other old items because I will replace them and she won't even notice!

To all those that answered my Facebook question thank you! I didn't want to feel bad about throwing away her food. I am trying to keep her safe an healthy. Things like Jello & yogurt of course get to stay in a little longer and I watch for expiration dates.
